Dear Greenway Community,

We wish you a happy fall! We’re reaching out to provide you with some exciting updates about what’s happening at Greenway Institute.

First off, we have officially launched our 2022-2023 Build a Better World Sustainable Engineering Challenge, a design and build challenge that immerses middle and high-school students in team-based, hands-on engineering. This year, we challenge students to create a solar-powered technology to improve the sustainability of how we grow, transport, consume, or dispose of food. We seek mentors with an engineering background to help coach student teams, so please reach out to challenge@greenwayinstitute.org if you or anyone you know is interested!

Secondly, Greenway attended this year’s Renewable Energy Vermont conference. We had a blast connecting with so many key players shaping Vermont’s Renewable Energy space and learning about all things renewable! At the conference, colleague after colleague stressed the value of hands-on learning to their own interest in engineering. And, we heard from business after business about workforce challenges and the need to broaden the pipeline into engineering in Vermont. We walk away from the conference feeling confirmed in our mission and hopeful about our contributions to a sustainable and equitable future.
